COVID-19 Shutdown Update (April 7st, 2021)

On April 7, 2021 the government of Ontario announced the implementation of a new emergency order and issued a province wide stay-at-home order.  This is in response to the rapidly increasing admissions to Ontario ICUs which are driven by the new Covid-19 variants of concern and in particular variant B117 in Ontario (British variant).

This 3rd wave of the pandemic is very serious because the variants are more transmissible and result in a more serious illness than the original Covid-19 even in younger people.  The province must accelerate the vaccination process while keeping people safe and the stay-at-open order is the best way to achieve those two very important goals.

ArtMed is an aesthetic clinic which is also a medical clinic.  We provide care in two streams – medically necessary care and elective aesthetic medical care.  At this time, with the stay-at-home order we will be closing our aesthetic medicine division.  This means any booked non-medically essential appointments (cosmetic procedures) will be cancelled and rescheduled for when the lock-down and stay-at-home order is lifted.  Patients with existing appointments will be notified and placed on a priority re-booking list.  Once a clear reopening date is identified, we will contact those patients directly to reschedule appointments.

The government of Ontario has asked all Ontarians to do their part to help stem the spread of Covid-19.  While ArtMed could technically stay open for aesthetic procedures under Directive 2 (issued in May 2020), we do not feel this is in keeping with our mission.  Our mission is provide care that strives for the best health and welfare outcomes for our patients.  At this time, that priority and mission means we encourage people to stay home during this dangerous phase of the pandemic.

For our medical patients who are being treated for medical conditions that require regular follow up and a consistent treatment schedule, we will continue to provide care during the stay-at-home order.  If we have not called and cancelled your appointment, it is because you are in this treatment group.  We will not be providing new patient consultations during the stay-at-home order.
