What is micro-needling?

Micro-needling, also called Collagen Induction Therapy, is used to improve the skin’s texture and tone, reduce surface scarring and minimize the appearance of fine wrinkles. Tiny titanium surgical steel needles are used to create micro channels (microscopic holes) in the skin.  Micro-needling is ideal for individuals who cannot have heat-based laser treatments and individuals who want minimal downtime (heat leads to a longer recovery). Adding PRP to micro-needling is an excellent option as it amplifies results and shortens recovery time.

How does the Dermapen® work?

Dermapen® is a small, hand-held device that delivers up to 1,300 micro-punctures per second, promoting new collagen growth and noticeable improvements in the skin’s appearance.

This micro-needling treatment stimulates your skin’s natural ability to heal itself and, in the process, produces collagen and elastin. This repair process begins immediately and results in a healthier dermis and minimized wrinkles or scars. At ArtMed, we use Dermapen®T for its predictable best-in-class performance and safety profile. Dermapen®

The added benefit of micro needling is that these superficial micro-channels facilitate the absorption of topically applied products such as hyaluronic acid, or Vitamin C serums. We’ll recommend a topical agent which optimizes your results.
