Ask Dr. Peirson – What is Microneedling?
Microneedling, also called Collagen Induction Therapy is used to improve the skin’s texture and tone, reduce surface scarring and minimize the appearance of fine wrinkles. Tiny surgical steel needles are used to create micro channels (microscopic holes) in the skin.
The process stimulates your skin’s natural ability to heal itself and in the process produces collagen and elastin which is the key to new, youthful-looking skin. This repair process begins immediately and results in a healthier dermis and minimized wrinkles or scars.
Microneedling is one of the most powerful ways to stop aging in its tracks and prevent new fine lines and wrinkles from forming. Another reason we love it at ArtMed, is that Microneedling enables the body’s own natural healing mechanisms, so the results are very natural. At ArtMed we use the latest model of DermaPen™ for its predictable performance and safety profile. Downtime is minimal and can vary with each patient.
The added benefit of Microneedling is that these superficial micro-channels facilitate the absorption of topically applied products such as hyaluronic acid, Vitamin C serums or platelet rich plasma (PRP) during and immediately post treatment. Each of these topical treatments further enhances your treatment outcome, and we’ll personally recommend a topical agent which optimizes your results during your free consultation.
Microneedling can safely be used on nearly all parts of the body with the most frequent treatments being on the face, neck, décolleté and hands.
